Mother goose baby album

This is a custom order for my sister to give to one of her friends who is expecting a little one very soon. I had so much fun creating this album and think it is my favourite so far.

To all you Project Life ladies you will know what I'm taking about here. You have emptied all the journaling cards out and sorted them nicely in their place, then you can't bare to throw the box away "it will come in handy for something" is a phrase you may have ushered. Well here is 1 option you may not have thought of. Create a mini album!!! Here is my attempt, together with Graphic 45 - Mother Goose collection (8x8 paper pad and chipboard pieces), I mixed it up with some Stampin' Up! Card-stock an a few other bits and pieces from my stash.

I had all the pages ready to go and was looking around the house for something to use as the cover - I found some old boxes - too flimsy, some chipboard - not big enough, I was at a loss, when out of he corner of my eye I spy my stack of Project Life boxes - then it all just came together as if it was meant to be.

                       Front cover

Here are some snippets from the pages inside.

Page style 1:
The Aqua flap lifts up so show 2 photo mats, with a tag in the top.

Page style 2:
Large photo mat, late tag in the top with photo mat and the small yellow tag come out of the little pocket (who has a journal spot on the back).

Page style 3:
Large tag in the top and another photo mat cones out from the side as seen below.

Example of tags and photo mat:

For this album I did something a little different and put a page in the middle of the album with 6 little flaps on each side. Each card has a photo mat for a little picture on the front, with space for notes (height, weight etc.) on the back

The album size is 8 1/4" x 8 1/4" with the inside page size of 7x7".

I will try and put up a tutorial for how I made the cover later.

Artful Stampers Blog Hop

Hi lovelies,

If you have arrived here from Anna's blog you are in the right place as the next stop on the hop if you are starting here, hop back to the beginning Alisa's blog to see all the other entries.

I am sharing a card I have created for our team blog hop challenge.
We were to create a project using the following colour scheme:

I just love these colours and when I went to look at my stamp sets Happy Horray almost jumped off the shelf and into my hand - it seemed perfect.

So here is my card. I just love the simplicity of it. I really wanted to add a little bling but couldn't get it to look right, so settled for less is best.

I used the Happy Hooray Stamp set, this set is so versatile I will try and put up a few more cards using this set so you can see it's many uses.

If you get stuck along the way here is a list of all the blogs, happy hopping.
Morgyn Mlinarek  (you are here)

I am the last stop on the hop so I have a little giveaway

One lucky person has the chance to win this card and a $5 off coupon to use when you place a Stampin' Up! order with me.  All you have to do is leave a comment below and I will select one of the comments at random and the end of the week.

Project Life Weeks 4 and 5

Good evening everyone, I really need to catch up with posting my project life pages so here is my layouts for weeks 4 and 5.

Week 4:

I tried out a few new things this week, firstly I have had a set of stitching patterns sitting in my drawer for ages, so I pulled them out and gave it a go on my title - I really love how this has turned out. I have used the WeRMK - Webster collection again (I did mention I loved this collection didn't I?) I have also made a 6 image photo collage for this page - Think I will be using this again, I love being able to see all the photos without it taking up another whole page - it really tells the story.

Week 5:
Bit of mixed bag with this week, collections used were Webster, rain and some Azure. Quite and eclectic mix.  Really like the 3 images on the 1 photo. The love card is using a white rub-on - love this effect. Not many embellishments this week - just letting the photos do the talking.

Project Life Week 3

Slowing getting through all of these layouts.
Here is my week 3 pages. I have used the WeRMK - Webster collection for this layout (I love this kit so much, I think it is my favourite - I actually have 2 sets).

On my title card I used some large black thinkers, I cut up a 3x4 card and then splattered on some back ink.

There is definitely a theme appearing - me taking photos of Sam sleeping, not sure if it's creepy or cute?

Taco salad - Paleo style

I just had my new favourite dinner, Taco salad.  I had seen it on a blog a couple of years ago and never paid much attention (I think it is more of an American dish - well  I have yet to see it on a menu here). So while trying to come up with idea's for dinner this week I was given a suggestion of Taco's, which got my mind wondering "how can I have Taco's on a Paleo diet?" so off on a Google search I went, what came up?  Taco Salad!  So here is my version, adapted slightly from a couple of other blogs.

Taco mince mixture

Spice mix1T oregano
1T garlic powder
1T onion powder
1.5T cumin
1/2t chilli powder (you could add more if you like yours spicy)
1T thyme
salt and pepper

Mix all these ingredients together in a bowl and set aside (this should be enough for 2 mixes).

Meat mix
1T coconut oil
1 red onion (you could use brown)
500g beef mince
Tomato paste

Heat oil in a frying pan, add onion (leave about 1T aside for your guacamole), cook onion until softened.
Add half of the spice mix and stir through (store the other half in an airtight container to use next time).
Add the beef mince and cook until just browned. Stir in the tomato paste.  Let it sit on a low heat while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare all your sala/d veges while the meat in cooking. I used chopped lettuce, grated carrot, cherry tomatoes (quartered) and chopped avocado.

1 avacado
1T red onion (use the left overs from the meat mix)
1 clove of garlic
Juice of half a lime
1t oil
salt and pepper

Add all the ingredients into a blender (or in a bowl with a stick mixer). Pure until combined, you should get a smooth paste like consistency.

Lay our lettuce on a plate and top with other vegetables, add your mince mix (recipe below) then top with some guacamole (recipe below above).  Franc did add some cheese and sour cream to his - I resisted the temptation, after feeling so great being back on the wagon for 2 weeks I couldn't let a little sour cream get in my way of a healthy lifestyle!

This meal was rated 9/10 on the husband scale, so definitely a winner in this household.

Stampin' Up! Christmas cards

Good morning everyone,

Here to share a Christmas cards I made with you today.

First up:

I used my blender pens and ink pads to colour the stamped image (which I stamped using black stazon ink), I also stamped the sentiment in matching colours and punched out using the decorative label punch.  I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Perfect polka dots embossing folder - I wanted to give it a snowy feel.

I used our new Get your Santa on stamp set.

I can see so many potential cards coming up with this set.  It is also one of our new photo-polymer stamps. To be honest I have not had much luck with clear stamps in the past so I was super skeptical in buying this one, but it stamps wonderfully I am super happy with it and can;t wait to get my hands on some more.

Here are the products I used to make this card.

You can find the card for sale in my Etsy store here.

Project Life Week 2

Hi everyone, here to share my week 2 layouts:
This week I had a few extra photos from the weekend so ended up with a small 6x8 insert.

I really liked my title this week. I used the Amy Tangerine stitching templates for the words, along with  some home made "enamel dots".

Bit of mixed bag of colours in this weeks layout, not entirely sure what look I was trying to go with here a rainbow effect maybe?  It is definitely not one of my favourite layouts, but it works and hey at least the photo's are in an album.

Insert pages from our weekend:
Think I liked the back of everyone's heads this weekend.
