Kraft Plus - October challenge

Hi everyone,

I have had a super busy month with all my challenges and crafty projects.  It has been really nice to get a lots of crafty time in.

This months Kraft + challenge was to use feathers and something natural on the layout.

I haven't used kraft cardstock on a layout or project in ages, so it was nice to get it out and have a play (I seem to have about 3 packets - opps!).
I got out all the feather things I could find in my stash  I had lots and lots of feather stamps but not much else, so I did my best with what I had.

Here is my take on the challenge.

And a few close ups.

The challenge is open until the end of the month so pop over and check it out.

My accompanying video is up on my YouTube channel too - you can take a look here.

Anna's craft cupboard October challenge

Hi everyone,

Another challenge share for today this one is from Anna's Craft Cupboard a awesome online retailer here is Australia, you can check out their store here.

This month we had a wonderful colour palette to work with along with some great shapes.  I think this may have been my favourite colour challenge of the month.

Here is my take on the challenge.

A few close ups.

I had so much fun doing this layout. I used so many different elements and bits and pieces, plus the colours were just awesome to work with.

The challenge closes 31st October so you still have plenty of time to enter yourself,  you can find the challenge blog post here.

I have also done an accompanying video which is up on my YouTube channel, you can find it here.

Deer and Fawn October challenge

Hi everyone,

I am here with another challenge share for you today.

This one was from Deer and Fawn designs, another wonderful Australian company.

The challenge this month was to create a layout 'about me'.  Now not many of my layouts are of me, in fact if i'm really honest not many of my photos are even of me.  Sure there are a couple of selfies of Sam and I but really not many of me, I guess I am always behind the camera instead of in front of it.  I think I need to train hubby a little more to capture some of me.

The photo I have chosen is one I took back in May (it was literally the only photo I had to just me in the last 10 months that I didn't look totally ridiculous). So I printed it in black and white and then used lots of pink for the layout.  I really want to do a my selfie scrapbook or something along those lines. This will be page one for the album - it is only 6" x 8"

Here are a few closes ups

Challenge time - White with 1

Hi everyone,

I'm back blogging again - we will see how long it lasts this time.
I have started doing full page layouts lately and this month decided to participate in a few challenges, so I thought I would share them here.  Most of my post will have accompanying process videos too, so watch out for a link at the bottom.

The first challenge of the month is White with 1, which is an Australian challenge site.
The colour this month is: Peach Puff, such a lovely colour.

I have also given myself the challenge of using up my stash for the next few months.  I have far too much 'stuff' and it needs to be used, (mainly so I can buy more goodies).

So to help with using up my stash I have decided to make up some kits for myself to work with, I pick a mood board, colour scheme or challenge blog and use that to make up a kit from my stash. I am finding stuff I forgot I had or that I had been hoarding for something special. Combine all the goodies in a bag with some papers and a coordinating photo and Bam! you have a kit.

I have found a few benefits of doing these 'mini kits' 1. I don't seem to make as much mess (as i'm not getting out tones of things), 2. My layouts are coming together in way less times (meaning I can get more done in the time I have to craft), 3. It's more portable (I can take it to the lounge and scrap while I watch TV), and 4. I am using up all my stuff (this feels so freeing, now being surrounded by 'STUFF').

I will post a video of how I make up my kits next month - so don't forget to check out my YouTube channel and hit subscribe so you don't miss a thing!

Anyway enough about what I have been up to here is a look at the layout I created ...

and a few close ups

So why not play along yourself the challenge is open until the end of October so you still have 2 more weeks to get an entry in.

30 days of lists - day 2

Today's prompt

RESOLUTIONS THAT NEVER STOOD A CHANCE.

So here is my list
No junk food - not even sure why I thought this would be possible, my DH tries to be nice and let me have the "night off" cooking (at least twice a week) by offering to get take out. I know it's just because he wants it - not really to be nice. I try not to cave in and let him get something I know I will regret. I have been stronger in saying no - so that's a start right????

Exercise 6 days a week - well I was doing pretty well last year... Then we went on holiday. I started well for the first week of the new year then DH had to go away for work, so there went my early morning runs as I couldn't leave my 3 year old at home alone!! So I fell of the exercise band wagon, might change this goal to Exercise once a week - far more manageable.

Stop swearing - seriously who was I kidding when I thought of this nonsecnce. I mean I know I swear a little (ok a tad more than a little), I'm trying to cut back - but sometimes things happen and it just feels right to say F$&k IT!!

Anyway those were my long winded excuses for not sticking to my resolutions. Next years resolution - DON'T MAKE ANY!

30 days of lists - day one

So I was browsing my way around Instagram this morning (as you do at 5.20am on a Sunday when you're the only one awake), when I stumbled across the hashtag #30lists. I had to know more about this so followed the links to the website www.30daysoflists.com, after 7 minutes of looking around I was hooked - signed up right here and then!
I have been looking for a new project to get stuck into and this was just too perfect 1. I LOVE LISTS, 2. I needed a new project, 3. It was starting today, 4. Did I mention I love lists.
I went down to Officeworks and picked up an art journal along with some super cheap water colour paints ($5 in the kids section - bargain) and set to work on my title page.

With it still only being the 28th February in America, I had to wait a few more hours until the prompt for today was released, I decided I was going to do my 30 lists in "junk journal" style - having never done one of these before I thought it would be fun (plus I could play with some goodies that have been laying around unused and feeling neglected)
I stamped, I painted, I got out the thickers, stickers and coloured pens and just had FUN! I love how it turned out (totally different from my usually work)

Anyway 6pm came and it was time for the prompt of the day - eagerly refreshing the website it finally came up

WHY I MAKE LISTS

So here is my page for this prompt - I used a Project Life journal card, added some stickers for a tile then just listed my thoughts - it was so simple.

I will be back again tomorrow with day 2's prompt and page.

Project Life Week 4

Sharing week 4 of my 2015 Project Life album.

As I mentioned in my previous posts I am going with the 'keep it simple' mantra for this years album, I am still absolutely loving it here's why. 1. It's easy 2. It saves time 3. It's saving me money (not buying more products to hoard), and 4. It just looks clean and complete and not over done (I am guilty of having TOO much on some layouts).

So here are my pages, side one:

I'm not 100% sure I like my title card for this week - I used the new Simply Pressed Clay mold from Stampin' UP! then coloured with my Copic markers. I was trying to link in the blue from a few of this weeks photos, but not sure if it works. Let me know what you think.

 And side two,

We took a trip to the beach for fish and chips with the family on Saturday. Sam was posing for some photos whilst standing n the rocks and he was just so happy, the little wood chip was a perfect embellishment for that photo.

Project Life 2015 - Week 3

Hi there everyone  I have my week 3 to share with you today - slowly catching up to the current week (6).

It was a rather busy week for us this week, we had a tone of activities planned + Franc was going to be away from Saturday, which gave Sam and I the opportunity to go and visit is Grandparents on the farm.

I put this layout together using my Scraptastic Kit Club - This Life Noted kit, some Stampin' Up! 3x4 grid cards, plus a few goodies from my stash. As I was away I only had limited supplies with me, but I think this actually worked in my favour as I wasn't overwhelmed by choice, which meant I didn't try to use every embellishment that I 'LOVE'. Loving this simplistic approach.

Thinking I might try to challenge myself to complete future layouts with limited supplies, make a little kit up for myself to use for the weekly spread - i'll let you know how that goes.

Project Life 2015 - Week 2

Here to share my week to with you all today,
I tried to keep to my theme of  'simple and clean' this week. Which I think I accomplished in the most part, I really like how the whole layout came together.

Side 1 - Franc was away with work for part of this week, so we took a little family photo before he left on Tuesday. Sam fell asleep on the couch a couple of afternoons - in almost the same position, which I thought was just super cute.

Side 2 - Sam had an out patient appointment at the new hospital in South Bank so we made a day of it and took his aunt with us, we had breakfast before the hospital at Toscani's - Pancakes with ice cream anyone? His appointment went well and was discharged as a patient - WOOHOO!! we celebrated with a Mexican lunch followed by Chocolate at Max Brenner YUM!

I used a mixture of embellishments on this layout - sticker, labels and wood veneers. Most cards are from Scraptastic kit club. I finally pulled out my Heidi Swapp colour collection and used a gold spray on the 'you make me smile' card - The photo doesn't give it justice.

Project Life 2015

Hi everyone,

As one of my new years resolutions was to start blogging again (and keeping consistent with it), I thought I would start with my Project Life cover page and week 1 spreads.

Title Page for 2015

I am trying a 'keep it clean' look this year, will all my pages having some sort of consistency. This includes using adding hand drawn lines around all my photo cards, keeping embellishments to a minimum and NO rounding of corners.  This last rule is rather hard as 98% of my PL cards are already rounded, so I will have some adjusting to do.

Week One (left side)

Week One (right side)

I have used the collect app and my Canon Selphy printer (thank you mum for the Christmas present) to edit and print all my photos for this album so far. I am mounting my photos on Stampin' Up! 3x4 grid card bases. Some of the collect app cards I have left as is (just trimmed down), others I have removed the text so I could add my own journaling - I still wanted to have my hand writing in the album, even though I really don't like it. Most of the filler cards in this layout are from the Scraptastic Kit Club, the others are random ones from my stash.

Well that's it for Week One, I have weeks 2-4 loaded and ready to upload of the next few days.
